Does self-publishing your book
feel like you're bringing a new baby into the world?
Liz Tufte and her team can serve as midwives, making
sure the project gets completed perfectly. We collaborate
with you on all aspects from concept to final design, helping with
editing, proofreading, and production so that trouble-free files
will go to the printer.
Liz at Folio Bookworks primarily works on the design and
typesetting of book interiors, although she's created some nice covers
as well (see portfolio). Many of the book covers are designed by two
top-notch design studios:
Liz will also walk you through the book production process, which can include requesting print quotes from reputable book printers.
If you need an editor or proofreader, Liz recommends:
Folio Bookworks was launched in 2000, after Liz had worked as art director and production
manager at a small press for 8 years. She has been studying the art and craft of typography for over
25 years, and went to school at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design. She is a member of Minnesota Bookbuilders.
Liz's other passion is animals. She and her partner spend as much time as they can with their
two horses, and they live with a dog and a cat.The dog, Golda, is the office assistant at Folio Bookworks,
and the cat, Mo, is office supervisor. Liz is also a foster mom for rescued dogs. The picture on this page
shows her with a baby pony, named Knickers, at the horse farm.
She would love to hear about your family, including kids & animals, when she starts on your
book project. Liz values the working relationship between designer & publisher, and her priority is to have
open communication throughout the process. She's learned that this is the best way to produce a book you're
happy with a book that looks professional, is readerfriendly, and sells well.
